Sipelle is made by Nicholas Titus. This page explains how to delete your Sipelle account and the data saved in it.

Delete it in the app

From version 1.2.0. This is the fastest way. It takes effect at once.

  1. Open Sipelle.
  2. On the Home screen, tap Drink Preferences.
  3. Tap Delete My Data, then confirm.

You can also open Liked from the bar at the bottom of Home and tap Delete My Data at the foot of the list.

Your account is deleted from our servers straight away and the app returns to its first screen.

On a version before 1.2.0, update the app first, or email us as described below.

If you no longer have the app, or the app has started over

Your Sipelle account has no email address and no password. The key to it is kept only inside the app on your phone. It is erased when the app is deleted, and installing the app again starts a new, empty account. We cannot look your account up by email.

You can still ask us to delete it. Email info@sipelle.app with the subject "Delete my data" and tell us:

  • the first name, date of birth and gender you entered in Sipelle
  • whether you used an iPhone or an Android phone
  • roughly when you first used Sipelle and when you last used it

We delete an account only when those details match exactly one account. We answer every request within 30 days with the same message: "If an account matched the details you sent, it has been deleted." We cannot say whether a match was found, because we have no way to confirm who is asking.

An account that has not been used for 24 months is deleted automatically.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: first name, date of birth, gender
  • Your saved drink preferences
  • Your likes and dislikes
  • Your scan history: the drinks read from each menu you scanned, and the venue name
  • Your account and its sign-in records
  • The scan log entries kept for the device you scanned with
  • The usage statistics our analytics provider keeps under your phone's device ID, including past drink preference choices. We ask the provider to erase them, and it finishes this in the background, usually within a few days. For a request by email, this covers the device IDs recorded with the account's scans.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Top Drinks counts: kept, with no link to you.
  • Daily usage counters (device ID and IP address): about a week.
  • Subscription status for your device: while your subscription is active, and up to 30 days after we last checked it.
  • Purchase records: kept by Apple or Google and by our subscription service, RevenueCat, for as long as they are needed to run and account for your subscription.
  • Generated drink pictures: shared by everyone who scans the same drink. They contain nothing about you.
  • Logs kept by our backend provider: 7 days.
  • Backups: deleted data can remain in routine backups for up to 7 days before it is overwritten.
  • Your email to us: up to 2 years.
  • On your phone: the device ID and your subscription status, so that a paid subscription and the daily scan allowance keep working.
